  • University Storm Recovery Updates

    UPDATE: Tuesday, Oct. 29, 8:30 a.m.
We are pleased to announce that Wi-Fi service has been restored to the Asheville Center. Current students, faculty, and staff may now access the building for study, work or other necessary activities. Please note there may be occasional short outages as our service provider continues the recovery process.

Drinking water is not available in the building. Some bottled water is available on site, but we encourage anyone using the building to bring their own drinking water if possible. The bathrooms on site now have working toilets.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate the challenges posed by Hurricane Helene. Please stay tuned for further updates.

College Access & Affordability

Lenoir-Rhyne Promise

Make access to a college degree accessible and affordable.

The Lenoir-Rhyne Promise (LR Promise) is a Ï㽶´«Ã½ program focused on making college more accessible and affordable while recognizing the academic achievements of high-performing students. The LR Promise rewards first-year undergraduate students who have a minimum 3.5 high school GPA at the time of admission with a financial aid package worth at least 50 percent of the cost of tuition. No student or parent loans are packaged as part of the LR Promise.

The LR Promise is also open to transfer undergraduate students who are transferring from an accredited community college and have more than 30 earned credit hours from that institution and a 3.5 GPA at time of admission at LR.

The LR Promise was first awarded to students enrolling in fall 2020 and does not apply to students who began enrollment prior to that term. However, financial aid staff are always happy to meet with students to review their financial aid package and make adjustments as appropriate.

Eligibility

  • High school weighted GPA of 3.5 or higher at time of admission for first-year students.
  • Transfer students must have a college GPA of 3.5 or higher at time of admission with a minimum of 30 attempted college credit hours from their institution.
  • Students must remain at full time status, meaning they are registered for 12 or more credit hours per term.

LR has provided me the support to pursue my bachelor’s degree by offering financial help with the LR Promise, as well as having the support from people on campus to help with whatever is needed.

Annual Renewal

LR Promise is renewable for up to four years (eight semesters) at the initial amount if a student remains in good standing with the university.

Exclusions

At this time, LR Promise is only available to full-time undergraduate students who meet the requirements for the program. The LR Promise is not available to graduate students or adult learners.
