Christian ministry often conjures images of a pastor leading a congregation and delivering Sunday sermons. While working at the church is one facet of ministry, more options exist. For example, a master’s degree in Christian Ministry from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary (LTSS) prepares graduates to share the gospel in whatever context God calls them to and to engage in relationships for the sake of Christ.

Through the skills and education obtained at LTSS, three students are preparing for a purposeful ministry in different fields.

Outdoor ministry provides life-changing experience

Macy Kennedy, a 2022 graduate, is taking her ministry beyond the pulpit and into God’s creation. She has found a way to combine her love for the outdoors with her theological education. In September, she will start her position as a program assistant at Rainbow Lutheran Camp in Colorado.

Building a foundation through men’s ministry

Faith has always been an integral part of Kevin Burke’s life. Today, he is equipping men to serve in the Lutheran faith while furthering his education at Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary.

Answering the call to serve

While some seminary students begin their journey directly after college, many realize their calling after spending years in unrelated fields. No career path or calling is the same, and seminary student Lynette McSpadden is a prime example. A lifelong Lutheran, McSpadden believes her unique experiences have prepared her for ministry as she pursues a master’s degree in Christian ministry.
