Introducing BEAR Central academic support scheduling through TracCloud

On January 22, BEAR Central launched the TracCloud scheduling platform, which will allow students to schedule appointments with BEAR Central tutors with a few clicks.

“When students access TracCloud, they can schedule appointments for tutoring or academic coaching at BEAR Central at the moment they know they need assistance – day or night –  and get confirmation right away,” said Jake Graffagnino, BEAR Central’s coordinator of peer-learning assistance who has managed the TracCloud rollout.

By giving students direct access to scheduling their appointments with academic support in available subject areas, TracCloud removes a logistical obstacle. Easier access will encourage more students to make use of the academic support designed to ensure their success at Lenoir-Rhyne.

“Besides the appeal of immediate results when they set up an appointment, TracCloud empowers students to recognize and pursue what they want and need. That’s a small detail that makes a big difference to promote follow-through and growth,” said Teena Brooks, M.A. ’17, the newly named director of BEAR Central.

Students will sign into the platform with their Lenoir-Rhyne username and password, similar to the way they sign in to other platforms on campus such as Zoom or Canvas.

By syncing with student schedules, TracCloud allows students to select the class or classes where they need support, directs them to the BEAR Central service that will fit their needs and gives them the option to select the earliest available appointments or specify a date and time of their choosing. The platform also tracks set appointments and sends reminders via email.

“Everyone needs help at some point, for many reasons, during their academic career,” said Graffagnino. “By making it easy – and more personalized – to ask for help when you need it, we’re ensuring all students get the support they need and deserve.”

Accessing TracCloud
  1. Use the to access the platform.

  2. Sign in to TracCloud using your LR student username and password.

  3. Set up your TracCloud profile (most of this information is optional).

  4. Under “Schedule an Appointment,” select a date and center or first available and the course where you need support, then search.

  5. Use the pop-up screen to select a BEAR Central service and search for an appointment time.

  6. Choose the time slot you want and select an online or drop-in visit, then confirm. If no appointments are available for your course, click the button that reads “Report Unable to Find Appointment.”

  7. You’ll get an email confirming your appointment.

You can return to the TracCloud platform to cancel or reschedule your appointment through the “Center Visits” section of the platform.
